LAHAD DATU: A baby boy was found abandoned in front of a house in Kampung Burung, Jalan Bakawali, in the early hours of Friday.

District police chief ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the baby was discovered alive at about 3.06am and has since been taken to Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment, where he remains in stable condition.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for child abandonment, which provides for a jail term of up to seven years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

A smartphone containing a gambling application was also seized, and the case is being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

Later the same day, at 10.30pm, police arrested a 21-year-old local woman at a hotel in town for allegedly offering sexual services through a social chat app.

The suspect was believed to charge between RM250 and RM350 per service, and the case is being investigated under Section 372 of the Penal Code after police seized several condoms and cash during the raid.
