MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala returned home after a historic Wimbledon run where she became the first Philippine singles player to make the London grass major round of 16.
Eala arrived on Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, where officials from the Philippine Tennis Association, Philippine Sports Commission, and the Philippine Olympic Committee as well as a group of young Filipino athletes and a slew of fans welcomed her.
The 21-year-old will hold a meet-and-greet with fans at the Glorietta Activity Center on Wednesday.
This is Eala's first stay here in the Philippines since playing at the inaugural Philippine Women's Open last January.
