Bag of the Week is a franchise that highlights the latest, most hyped luxury bags. Each week, we showcase a bag that is generating significant buzz, whether for its design, exclusivity, or popularity. This week, we’re shining the spotlight on the Ferragamo Cara Bag.

Remember when leather expert Tanner Leatherstein went viral on TikTok for dissecting luxury handbags? Among the bags to earn his attention was Ferragamo’s Soft Hug, which received a historic perfect five across all five testing pillars: design, craftsmanship, structure, hardware, and leather. If that was a testament to Ferragamo’s technical prowess, the house’s latest silhouette, the Cara bag, is another reason to keep an eye out for its leather craftsmanship.

First unveiled on Ferragamo’s Fall 2026 runway, the Cara arrives as one of the House’s most modern silhouettes yet. Under Creative Director Maximilian Davis, who joined the Florentine house in 2022, Ferragamo has continued to draw from its rich heritage while stripping things back through a distinctly contemporary lens. The Cara is a case in point: sleek and architectural at first glance, but layered with the craftsmanship and codes that have long defined the House.

Its slim profile is balanced by a surprisingly spacious three-gusset accordion structure, creating a practical interior without compromising its streamlined shape. At the centre sits a pocket, framed by two outer sections, while the leather panels wrap around the sides in a subtle detail that recalls the construction of the Hug. Completing the design is the signature Gancini closure, one of Ferragamo’s most enduring house codes, reinterpreted here with a refined restraint.

Behind its deceptively simple appearance is an intricate construction process. The Cara is made from more than 100 individual components and takes approximately ten hours to assemble by Ferragamo’s skilled artisans. Available in XS and S sizes, the bag comes in soft calf leather for an understated everyday finish, while more distinctive versions in materials including eel and alligator offer a more elevated interpretation.

With Ferragamo’s heritage embedded in every detail and a growing list of celebrity fans already carrying it, the Cara looks well positioned to become one of Fall/Winter 2026’s defining new bags.
