PENAMPANG: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick suggested that the Bahasa Kadazan Dusun (BKD) Award and the funding of BKD studies at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (Upsi) be introduced next year.
Ewon, who is also United Kinabalu Progressive Organisation (Upko) President, proposed that the BKD Award be given to teachers or those who have strengthened the teaching and learning of the Kadazan Dusun language so that it is taken up as a subject in schools and universities.
“My second suggestion is to introduce funding or scholarships to students who study BKD at Upsi.
“We know that many students from Sabah will study at UPSI and of course need funding for their studies either from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), or scholarships from the State or Federal governments.
