KUALA LUMPUR – The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) announced today that independent shuttlers may attend weekly match-play sessions at Akademi Badminton Malaysia.
In a statement, BAM said these sessions will take place on Wednesday mornings for singles and doubles players, while there will be a second session for doubles players on Fridays.
“As sparring sessions are a critical and necessary component of players’ training, BAM feels these joint sessions will provide mutual benefits to the proactive engines of the national team – the senior squad and independent shuttlers.
“These sessions will also help enhance the camaraderie between players and officials, particularly when they represent the country in team competitions,” read the statement.
BAM added that singles players in the top 50 world ranking and doubles players in the top 30 will be eligible to attend the sessions, while the top five Malaysian players may also be considered.
However, professional players who are interested must confirm their attendance by the Monday of the week to facilitate training sessions. – The Vibes, November 21, 2022
