FAMILY members of the victim who died in an accident after being hit by an alleged drunk military personnel on the MEX Highway early this morning are hoping for justice to be served following the tragedy.
The victim's uncle, Mohibul Hassan, 50, said the Bangladeshi victim and his wife came to the country for a holiday around the capital and were excited to return to Malaysia for a second time.
According to him, the couple, who have been married for two years, are active as travel bloggers in their home country.
Mohibul said he was shocked when he received news of the accident that befell his nephew.
"If he was drunk, why did he drive the car? It's no use even asking now.
"If he were drunk, I want to see what the Malaysian law will do about it," he said when met by BuletinTV3 at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) today.
The victim, Muzahid Millad, 22, died from severe head injuries after the e-hailing multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) he was riding in with his wife, Nafisa Tabassun Adiba, was hit by a Ford Fiesta driven by a military officer from the opposite direction.
The couple had reportedly just arrived from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) before the incident occurred.
The incident also caused Nafisa, the military officer and another female passenger in the Ford Fiesta to suffer injuries.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, confirmed that the breathalyser test on the Ford Fiesta driver found the reading to be above the permitted limit.
Muzahid's cousin, who only wanted to be known as Alamgir, said the couple had planned to spend a week in the capital.
He said officials from the Bangladeshi High Commission had met him at the hospital, and that he was now handling his cousin's funeral arrangements.
He said the family planned to bury Muzahid in their hometown in Bangladesh once all procedures were completed. – April 23, 2026
