Barcelona coach Xavi has warned Gerard Pique he faces a limited role this season.
The arrivals of Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde has seen Pique relegated to the bench in the opening games of the new campaign.
And Xavi has gone public to make clear to the veteran that he is no longer a first-choice.
"I already spoke with him before the holidays. He is a footballer who can help with another role," said the coach.
Despite his stand, Xavi is still happy to count on Pique's experience this season.
