Barcelona president Laporta charged with bribery over Negreira case

The judge of the Negreira case, Joaqun Aguirre, has charged the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, for the alleged crime of bribery.

The local magistrate has been investigating payments of 7.5 million euros that were made by Bara to Jos Mara Enriquez Negreira when he was vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), reports OkDiario.

A little less than a month ago, the head of the Barcelona Court of Instruction number 1, which instructs the Negreira case and just imputed Joan Laporta, also imputed Barcelona Football Club, Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, former club presidents, Jos Mara Enriquez Negreira and his son Javier Enriquez Romero.

The magistrate leaves the door open to impute more Barcelona directors.

According to the order, the magistrate attributes the following crimes to them: bribery; sports corruption, unfair administration, falsity in a commercial document; and an accounting crime attributable only to FC Barcelona.
