Barcelona president Joan Laporta has addressed fans in Mallorca ahead of tonight's clash.

Laporta spoke with them about the economic policy the club had in the summer, using leverage to fund signings.

He said, “Unfortunately, given the legacy that we received we had just two options. Use levers or start to ask for money from people. It was the pandemic and there were economic difficulties, neither the board or I wanted to ask for money. We had to sell assets to consolidate the recovery.

“You can be calm, because in a moment of maximum difficulty, we sold at a very good price and without prejudicing the club's future accounts excessively. We went to the market and we did well."

He also praised sporting director Mateu Alemany, who is from Andratx, in Mallorca.

“We needed air from Mallorca," added Laporta. “He did extraordinary work and he's the main reason we have this competitive team we have today."
