Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen faces months out with a partial ACL tear, set to miss Denmark’s World Cup play-offs after training injury

BARCELONA defender Andreas Christensen is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee ligament injury.

The club confirmed the Danish centre-back sustained a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during training on Saturday.

Barcelona stated the injury resulted from “an unfortunate twist of the knee” and that Christensen will follow a conservative treatment plan.

Spanish media reports indicate the 29-year-old could be out of action for approximately four months.

His absence will rule him out of Denmark’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification play-off matches against North Macedonia in March.

Christensen, who joined Barcelona from Chelsea in 2022, has been plagued by injuries throughout his spell at Camp Nou.

The defender’s current contract with the Catalan club is due to expire in June 2026.
