A late goal from Goncalo Ramos gave PSG a famous win against Barcelona in an early season clash between two Champions League favourites.
The hosts started quickly at their makeshift home, with Ferran Torres going close just a few minutes before a superb Marcus Rashford cross enabled the Spaniard to tap in to open the scoring.
Barcelona were in the ascendancy from there but a spell of carelessness in defence allowed PSG back into it, with Nuno Mendes slipping in a perfect pass for Senny Mayulu to equalise before half-time.
The second half began with both sides equal but it was PSG who applied the early pressure, with Bradley Barcola going close before a heroic block from Achraf Hakimi stopped a certain Dani Olmo goal with 20-odd minutes left.
Despite a brief lull, substitutions changed the game as Luis Enrique went for the win, with PSG dominating the final exchanges before Hakimi got in behind the home defence to lay it on a plate for Goncalo Ramos, whose first-time finish secured three points for the defending champions.

“Very disappointing feeling at the end, when you concede in the last minute of the game, to lose at home, you have to be disappointed,” says Frenkie de Jong.
“They were better in the final stages, in the second half in general. We began the game better. So it went back and forward, but it's true they were better in the second half.
“We were also missing players. It was a good game to show us where we are at. We are one of the top teams in Europe, there is a long way to go in Champions League still.
“This loss will hurt us, but it will not be decisive. We always want to win, so we are not happy, we know we need to improve, we know that, and will do it,” he added.

GOAL! PSG have surely won it!
Again it looks so simple too. They spread it wide to Hakimi, who himself is in behind the Barca defence on the wing. All he has to do it look up and play an early cross to Ramos, who is also running ahead of the Barca defence, and the Portugues striker side-foots a first-time effort into the back of the net!

There’s a free header from Mendes at the back post as nobody has picked him up, but he can't get enough on it to trouble Szczesny.

Plenty of PSG pressure to end this one, though Torres has just gone down on the edge of the PSG box. Hakimi is yellow carded and Barca will have a late chance.

Yamal picks it up on the right and picks out the run of Torres, who’s marauded into the box. He looks to pick out Rashford at the near post but the cross is blocked and it rebounds straight to Olmo, who has a golden chance a few yards out and under no pressure.

It’s been an intriguing half for the neutral at Montjuic, though it’s a shame PSG are missing so many key players.
They have fared well despite that, though Barcelona will be wondering how they don't have the lead after limiting the visitors to precious little in attack for large periods.
Both sides have been guilty of lacking that final bit of quaity in the final third at times, but it’s all set up perfectly for the second half.

Yamal clips a nice ball forward to Rashford and the loanee attempts to squeeze a squared pass to Torres in the box, but again Zabarnyi does well to make sure it doesn’t get past.

Not too far away from the hosts, as a lovely passage of play from Pedri ends with the Spaniard squaring it to compatriot Dani Olmo, who sees his shot deflected narrowly wide.

Oh, close from PSG! The wrong decision from Barcola though.

Enrique & Flick on Barcelona vs PSG
19:45
,
Chris Wilson
“I am happy to come back, it’s my home. I spent a large part of my career as a player and a manager here,” said PSG boss Luis Enrique ahead of tonight’s match.
“It’s not the Nou Camp but it’s a beautiful stadium. I played here in the Olympic Games in 1992. It’s very special to be here.
“For us, it’s exciting to play against a team with the same mentality. They have a very good coach, who I have known for a long time. The coach and his players will want to put on a good match. The two teams are similar but the key will be in winning the ball back. The future is the match on Wednesday. We will try to prepare for it in the best way possible. In order to win, we will need to play our football well and be mentally strong. It’s a special match for both teams,” added the Spaniard.
Barca boss Hansi Flick said that his side will be "playing against the best team from last season, and it’s a big challenge”.
“PSG are a very strong team,” warned the German, before adding that his team are “really looking forward to” the match.
“I think we need to work on our game plan and what we want to do, like controlling possession and positioning ourselves well. But it won’t be easy, because they’re very good at that too.
"So from the very first second to the final whistle, we’ll have to play at our highest level. This is the Champions League and there’s no room for making mistakes,” he added.

Barcelona have only lost one of their last 12 home matches in the Champions League.
PSG have won their last four Champions League games by a combined scoreline of 12-1, and the last two by 9-0 combined.
Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has only scored one goal in five Champions League appearances against PSG, with that lone goal coming in December 2017 for Bayern Munich. His minutes per goal ratio against the French side (450) is his worst against any opponent in the competition.

Since winning three consecutive UEFA Champions League games against Paris SG in the 2014/15 season – all of which were with Luis Enrique in charge – Barcelona have only won two of their last six meetings with the French side in the competition (D1 L3).
PSG have won their last two games away to Barcelona, both by 4-1 scorelines in the Champions League (February 2021 and April 2024). If they win here, the French outfit will be the first team ever to win three consecutive away games against Barcelona in major European competition.

These two sides have faced off 15 times in European competition in the past, with Barcelona winning six, PSG winning five and four ending as draws.
The most recent meetings came in the Champions League in April 2024, where Barca won 3-2 in Paris before falling to a 4-1 loss at home, with Ronald Araujo’s early red card changing the result of the quarter-final.
Of course, these two sides are also responsible for producing one of the most memorable ties of all time, when a last-gasp 6-1 win at the Nou Camp secured a 6-5 aggregate win in the round of 16 in 2017.

The line-ups should be released in the next five minutes, so here’s a reminder of the early team news...
Both sides are missing a host of star names, with Fermin Lopez absent with a hip injury, Gavi and Joan Garcia out with knee issues, and Raphinha with a hamstring problem. Keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is another long-term absentee but Alejandro Balde is expected to return.
The visitors meanwhile will be without newly-crowned Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, who is expected to be sidelined until the end of October with a hamstring issue, as well as Desire Doue, Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz and Marquinhos, who are all working their way back from injuries.
Vitinha and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were both injured in the win over Auxerre but while the Georgian’s issue is believed to be more problematic, Vitinha may pass fitness for the visit to Barcelona.
