Former England star John Barnes is baffled by Chelsea's decision not to pursue a permanent deal for Joao Felix.
Felix returned to Atletico Madrid at the end of the season after completing his six month loan.
Though the deal didn't include a permanent option, Atletico were eager to sell - but Chelsea passed on the opportunity.
Barnes told Indiabetting: "I think he could have been a Premier League success with Chelsea.
"Had they had a centre-forward, he would be a perfect player to play alongside a centre-forward. So it has nothing to do with him but it's more because they have priorities somewhere else.
"In an inconsistent Chelsea team I think he's done well as anybody else and he's a fantastic player as a number 10. But they don't need a number 10 at the moment."
