Tawau Maritime Zone Operations Deputy Director Maritime Commander Amiludin Yengah said the boat from the Philippines was detained around 12.20pm last Friday.
He said 12 barrels of LPG without a permit were found on the boat.

He said the local boat was intercepted last Saturday around 3.40pm for the same offence after it was spotted moving in a suspicious manner by a Maritime patrol boat.
Amiludin said an inspection of the boat found a local skipper carrying an estimated at 1,150 litres petrol and diesel in 40 barrels.
“The skipper of the boat was arrested after failing to show any permit related to the goods and taken to the Tawau Maritime Zone jetty for further investigations,” said Amiludin.
He said law enforcement would continue to be strengthened to combat illegal activities in the Malaysian Maritime Zone, especially in the waters of eastern Sabah.
