BAS.MY Kota Kinabalu fully operational with all 8 routes

Kota Kinabalu: The BAS.MY Kota Kinabalu stage bus service is now fully operational with all eight routes, S01 to S08, in service since Aug 11, enhancing public transport connectivity for residents in the city and surrounding areas.

The Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) said in a statement Friday that the full operation followed the phased rollout of the service, which began on April 1 with routes S01 and S05 before expanding to S02, S03, S04, S06, S07 and S08.

The service received encouraging response, with 194,265 passengers recorded on routes S01 and S05 as of Aug 10, while the number is expected to increase following the operation of all eight routes.

BAS.MY also provides free concession cards for students, persons with disabilities (PwDs) and senior citizens, with 960 people registered so far.

The service is an initiative by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Transport (MOT) under the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme, involving an allocation of RM17.6 million annually or RM88 million over five years.

Forty-eight new buses have been deployed to connect key locations at KK Sentral and Pekan Menggatal through the eight routes, which are equipped with modern facilities, including real-time GPS monitoring systems, cashless payment facilities, e-ticketing services and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

The buses also feature designs that provide greater comfort and accessibility for passengers, including PWDs and senior citizens. The service operates daily from 5.30am to 11pm, with intervals of between 15 and 30 minutes.

Following are the eight routes: Route S01 covers 31.78km from KK Sentral via Jalan Kemajuan, Jalan Tuaran, Jalan Pasir, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, PPNS, Jalan UMS, Jalan Lintas and Jalan Kolam before returning to KK Sentral.

Route S02, covering 32.88km, also begins and ends at KK Sentral, passing through Jalan Kemajuan, Jalan Tuaran, Jalan Istana, Jalan Kolam, Jalan Lintas, Jalan Pasir, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, PPNS, Jalan UMS, Jalan KK Bypass and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Route S03, spanning 36.90km, connects Pekan Menggatal and KK Sentral via Jalan Tuaran, Lorong Kuburan Batu 2, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan KK Bypass, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, SICC, PPNS, Jalan UMS and Jalan Sepanggar.

Route S04 covers 38.16km linking Pekan Menggatal, KK Sentral and Terminal Bas Inanam through Jalan Tuaran, Jalan Sepanggar, Jalan UMS, PPNS, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, Jalan KK Bypass, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Kemajuan, Jalan Industrial Area, Jalan Undan and back to Pekan Menggatal.

Route S05 covers 17.84km from KK Sentral via Jalan Coastal, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Haji Saman, Jalan Jesselton, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, SICC, Jalan Istiadat, Jalan Kompleks Sukan, Jalan Damai, Jalan Bersatu, Jalan Kolam, Jalan Lintas, Jalan Penampang and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman before returning to KK Sentral.

Route S06 covers 20.40km, beginning and ending at KK Sentral, via Jalan Kemajuan, Jalan Tuaran, Jalan Istana, Jalan Nenas, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Pintas, Jalan Berjasa, Jalan Rumah Sakit (HQE), Jalan Penampang, Jalan Lintas, Jalan Kolam, Jalan Damai, Jalan Bersatu, Jalan Kompleks Sukan, Jalan Istiadat, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens and Jalan KK Bypass.

Route S07 covers 20km, connecting KK Sentral via Jalan Kemajuan, Jalan Coastal, Jalan Kapayan, Jalan Lapangan Terbang Baru, Jalan Lintas, Lorong Ridge 1, Lorong Bunga Patuma 9, Jalan Pintas, Jalan Penampang, Jalan Rumah Sakit (HQE), Jalan Berjasa and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman before returning to KK Sentral.

Route S08, also covering 20km, begins and ends at KK Sentral, passing through Jalan Kemajuan, Jalan Tuaran, Jalan Istana, Jalan Nenas, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Pintas, Jalan Berjasa, Jalan Rumah Sakit (HQE), Jalan Penampang, Jalan Lintas, Jalan Lapangan Terbang Baru, Jalan Kapayan and Jalan Coastal.
