JOHOR BAHRU -Basic food supplies for Ramadhan and Eid are sufficient according to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
Its minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the ministry and the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (Mafs) are always cooperating towards solving the issue of food supplies.
Salahuddin said he was also alert on the recent floods that are affecting Johor, Pahang and parts of Malacca.
“The floods caused several vegetable fields to be destroyed.
“However the ministry is working tirelessly daily, not just for a season.
“Yesterday (Wednesday) the ministry’s officers went to Cameron Highlands to ensure the output capacity of vegetables,” he said in a press conference for the Rahmah Menu launch at a restaurant here on Thursday.
Salahuddin said he has yet to receive reports regarding price hikes especially towards basic needs.
“We did not receive any reports regarding an increase in the price of goods.
“If we do receive it we will take immediate action as the issue is under our observation,” he said.
