MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte is set to appear before the Senate impeachment court on Tuesday after seeking additional time to gather and prepare documents covered by a subpoena issued to him.
On the 30th day of Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial, Senate Presiding Officer Francis Escudero granted Baste's request to appear on Sept. 29 and 30, noting that both dates were covered by the subpoena previously issued to the Davao City mayor.
In a letter dated Monday, Mayor Duterte asked for additional time "to gather, organize, authenticate and reproduce" the documents required under the subpoena.
Baste was ordered to bring Davao City government records involving GenCorp Industries Inc. and corporations operating Jollibee branches from 2020 to the present.
GenCorp was among the companies declared by Vice President Duterte as a business interest in her 2024 and 2025 Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.
