Batik Lestari festival returns to celebrate Malaysian heritage and sustainability

THE Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) will host the second annual Batik Lestari Festival from 5 to 7 November, promoting inclusivity, sustainable practices, and growth for local batik entrepreneurs.

The event coincides with the ASEAN Capital Market Forum and highlights Malaysia’s cultural economy.

THE Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) will host the second instalment of the Batik Lestari Festival from 5 to 7 November 2025 at its Bukit Kiara premises.

Following a successful debut last year, the festival aims to showcase Malaysia’s rich batik heritage while building a more inclusive and sustainable marketplace, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“The festival not only celebrates the artistry of Malaysian batik but also seeks to provide greater funding and capital market access for local entrepreneurs and artisans,” the SC said in a statement on Friday.

This year’s festival coincides with the ASEAN Capital Market Forum (ACMF) international conference and a series of high-level meetings, positioning the local batik industry as a leading example of Malaysian creativity and enterprise, enhancing its recognition both regionally and internationally.

Supported by the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation, the three-day event will feature a curated marketplace of more than 20 designers and vendors, cultural performances, fashion shows, and demonstrations of batik-making techniques.

Visitors can take part in hands-on workshops to learn canting, waxing and design methods directly from skilled artisans.

In addition, a series of capital market pocket talks will explore topics including “From Craft to Commerce” and “Exploring Fund-raising and Grants,” linking cultural entrepreneurship with financial growth.

The festival will run daily from 9am to 6pm, with free admission and parking. - October 31, 2025
