Tributes have been offered following the death of Neil Henderson, a former guitarist for both the Bay City Rollers and Middle Of The Road.
The Scottish musician’s passing at the age of 73 was announced on Facebook by his former Middle Of The Road colleagues, who paid tribute to his musical legacy.
They wrote: "We are sorry to have to announce the death of Neil Henderson, our original lead guitarist, songwriter and friend. Neil had been ill for some time and was fighting to recover from a stroke a few years ago.
"We wish to send our sincere condolences to Heather and Shona, his two daughters, and all his family and friends.
"His memory will live on with all who had the pleasure of sharing the stage with him as will his music."
Henderson spent a two-year stint as a member of the Bay City Rollers starting in 1970, performing on Keep On Dancing, the group's debut chart single.
However, he departed the Scottish pop rock group shortly prior to the 1974 arrival of their debut album Rollin’ – an LP that entered at the summit of the UK Album Charts and accumulated 58 weeks on the charts in total.
He later joined Middle Of The Road, who had earned a number one single a few years earlier with Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep.
Henderson is survived by his two daughters.
