Thousands of Bayern Munich fans gathered in front of Munich's city hall to celebrate the Bundesliga title with the team on Sunday.

The Marienplaty in the city centre became a sea of red and white as players, coaches and officials appeared on the balcony to present the trophy and sing popular party songs along with the fans.

"There's nothing better than celebrating with the best fans in the world!" president Herbert Hainer said.

"When I see how many fans have come here, it really warms my heart. I'm incredibly proud."

CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen added: "It's an honour to be here every year. It's packed, everyone's happy - it's just a wonderful day. (Coach) Vincent Kompany and the team really hit the gas yesterday, it was a long night. We're not done yet, so from tomorrow our full focus will be on the next task."

Bayern claimed the Bundesliga title long before the final league match against Cologne on Saturday, which they won 5-1. But they have one last mission this season: the German Cup final against defending champions VfB Stuttgart on May 23.

Bayern have reached the final for the first time since 2020, when they won the title.

"We still have the cup final in Berlin, we absolutely want to win it. Then it'll be a proper farewell, I think," said midfielder Leon Goretzka, who's leaving the club at the end of the season.

Goretzka was subbed off in the 82nd minute of the match against Cologne and received an standing ovation from the fans at the Allianz Arena.

After the game, the fans unfurled a banner thanking the player and captain Manuel Neuer also handed Goretzka the trophy so he was the first to lift it.

"The most emotional moment came when I stood in front of the fans and felt the full power of the south stand. I'll never forget that! The interview isn't long enough to describe the eight years and share all my memories. I'm grateful for this time," he said.
