Bayern Munich's German Cup win is good news for rivals Borussia Dortmund because it gives them an additional opportunity to win another title and prize money via the German Super Cup.
The Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup match normally features the Bundesliga champion and the Cup winner.
Bayern won both titles, beating VfB Stuttgart in the Cup final on Saturday after earlier topping the league ahead of Dortmund. In such cases the Bundesliga runner-up, and not the Cup finalist, are the other team in the Super Cup.
The Super Cup is scheduled for August 22, with a venue yet to be announced. Bayern and Dortmund last met in the Super Cup in 2021, with Bayern winning 3-1.
The winner receives €3 million ($3.5 million) and the losing team €2 million.
