Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic admits the club should have targeted a center forward in the summer.
The German champions lost Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona during the last summer transfer window.
Instead of securing a like for like replacement, they went for Liverpool winger Sadio Mane instead.
"With Sadio Mane we have signed a new player who can also play as the No.9," Salihamidzic told reporters via Sport 1.
"In retrospect, of course, you can be the clever one and say: That's not the case.
Serge, King, Leroy, Sadio, Tel, Choupo, Thomas, Jamal they are all top players."
