Bayern Munich are once again being linked with a move for Sergino Dest, with the PSV Eindhoven full-back re-emerging as a possible target.

Bayern’s interest in Dest has been noted, although there are no formal talks with PSV at this stage and the reported fee is between €20m and €25m.

This is not a new name on Bayern’s radar. Their interest in Dest reportedly goes back at least six years, adding context to the latest transfer link.

Dest is not being positioned as a top Bayern target at this stage. The key detail is that he is on their shortlist, rather than someone they are actively moving for right now.

That is an important distinction. A player can fit the recruitment profile without being an immediate priority, and current information points more towards monitoring than negotiation.

The reported valuation also gives the story more weight. Paying €20m to €25m for a squad option would be a significant move, especially if Bayern need to create space before making an offer.

Sergino Dest’s link to Bayern comes at an interesting time

Timing could play a role here too. Bayern are said to want to complete a sale after signing Ismael Saibari before any move for Dest gathers pace.

Dest is also expected to make a decision on his future after the World Cup, so this is not a deal that looks likely to progress quickly.

There is still plenty to like about his profile. While he has featured most often at right-back, his experience on the left makes him a useful option for a squad looking to add depth.

For now, Bayern’s interest in Dest appears genuine and long-standing, but nothing should be treated as advanced until talks with PSV actually begin.
