BBC series being revived with brand-new cast and female lead

• The BBC series Monarch of the Glen is being revived by Channel 5, 21 years after its original run concluded.
• The reboot will feature a new female lead, Isla Campbell, played by Julia Brown, a lawyer who returns to the Scottish Highlands to find she has inherited a £1m debt.
• The cast also includes Bridgerton actor Chris Fulton and Downton Abbey’s Phyllis Logan, alongside Ewan Miller, Rishi Nair, John Gordon Sinclair and Gordon Kennedy.
• The new series is produced by PBS Masterpiece and Ecosse Films, with Jeremy Brock as creator and writer, alongside Stephen Greenhorn, and directed by Tom Vaughan.
• Monarch of the Glen is loosely based on Compton Mackenzie’s Highland Novels, which are set in the 1930s and 1940s.
