THE Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) on Thursday extended for one year the operations and maintenance contract of Golfplus Management Inc. (GMI) and Duck Sports and Music Productions Inc (DuckWorld PH), the consortium that manages John Hay Golf in Baguio City.
“Extending the interim management ensures the uninterrupted operation of the John Hay golf course, while safeguarding public access and maintaining the quality of services expected by golfers and visitors,” BCDA President and CEO Joshua Bingcang said in a statement.
The stewardship of the John Hay Golf in Camp John Hay remains a priority of the BCDA to preserve its historic character while responsibly managing the property, Bingcang noted.
On Jan. 9, 2025, the Camp John Hay Golf Club reopened under new interim management led by GMI, Turfgrass Management Inc. (TMI), and DuckWorld PH.
The management transition follows the Supreme Court’s October 2024 ruling which authorized the BCDA to recover the 247-hectare Camp John Hay property from CJH Development Corp. (CJHDevCo).
On Feb. 12, 2025, the BCDA opened John Hay Golf to the public, with various playing rights and access options available, subject to the payment of applicable green fees.
Part of the GMI-DuckWorld extended contract is that it will organize the BCDA Chairman’s Cup in 2026, alongside the continued implementation of facilities and amenities improvements.
The deal likewise includes the hosting of major events, tournaments, and related activities, to further strengthen the golf course’s role as a premier sports and recreation destination in Baguio City.
Baguio Country Club (BCC) and John Hay Golf hosted the Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament, held Nov. 25 to Dec. 13, 2025, at the BCC and John Hay fairways.
Now on its 75th year, the annual tournament is the longest-running amateur golf competition in the Asia-Pacific region.
Beyond tournaments, John Hay Golf is investing in the future of the sport. To support early talent discovery and long-term athlete development, it has partnered with the Philippine Sports Commission and the National Golf Association of the Philippines by granting free access to golfers aged 18 and below.
