Kota Kinabalu: Twenty-five passengers of an express bus were unharmed when it crashed into a ditch along Jalan Klias Empat, near Taman Kinamas, on Saturday (pic).

District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Muhammad Hasbullah Nenggok said they received a distress call at 6.52pm.

A 10-man on a fire engine and Emergency Medical Rescue Services vehicle were at the scene 5km away and found both the bus’ right tyres caught in the ditch, causing it to tilt.

The panicked passengers traveling from Kota Kinabalu to Sipitang were immediately evacuated.

In SANDAKAN, a body was found in a ditch near SK Mawar, Batu 5, on Saturday evening.

Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Station Chief, Severinus Sainkui, said they received a call from the police at 6.29pm via the station’s line requesting help to retrieve the body.

He said nine personnel led by operations commander, Alan Ayuh, were dispatched to the scene approximately 8km from the station.

“The team hoisted the body using a rope and handed it over to the police for further action,” he said, adding operations ended at 7.12 pm.

Sandakan Police are still investigating the victim’s identity.
