BEAUFORT: Three emergency calls to attend to the presence of snakes and one on fire were received by the Fire and Rescue Services Department here.
District Head Muhammad Hasbullah Nenggok said they received a call at 1.13 am on Tuesday last week about a fire at Mandar Stalls in Beaufort Jaya.
“The fire involved a cooking pot that had been left unattended, luckily some people saw it and called the station,” he said.
The Department had always advised the public not to leave the kitchen with their cooking still on the stove.
Luckily the fire brigade managed to put out the fire or the row of stalls would have been razed to the ground.
On Monday last week at about 12.40pm the Department received a call about the presence of a snake at Kg Kuandu.
“There was a snake under the cupboard as reported by the complainant and the snake was caught with a snake catcher,” he said.
Last Wednesday at about 11.43 am an emergency call was received by the station that a cobra was seen in a house in Kg Jempangah.
The cobra was in the living room of the complainant and it was caught with a snake catcher.
“Luckily the people in the house saw the poisonous snake before it could harm anyone,” he said.
