A heart-wrenching incident was reported in Rauda sector of Bilaspur town as a woman and her son were found dead in their house yesterday. The deceased were identified as Kumud Sharma (66), a retired teacher, and Akshansh (36). The family was from Arki but had been living in a rented house for some time.

It was learnt that Akshansh became bedridden following a severe accident two-three years ago. A physiotherapist used to visit his home to conduct his therapy sessions.

When physiotherapist arrived on Friday, no one opened the door and he assumed Akshansh was asleep and left.

Later in the evening, the physiotherapist informed relatives living in Bilaspur, who frequently visited to assist the mother and son, about the situation. Those relatives raised an alarm and called the police, who found the mother-son due lying dead on a bed.

Bilaspur SP Sandeep Dhawal said, “A case of death of a woman and her son has come to light in Rauda sector of the town. The police have sent both bodies for a postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. The matter is being thoroughly investigated.” He added that the body of the deceased would be handed over to the relatives after the postmortem.
