SENSING the finish line, San Miguel Beer goes for the kill against TNT in Game 6 of the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup finals on Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
The Beermen and the Tropang 5G clash at 7:30 p.m., with the SMB side looking to clinch a second straight All-Filipino title.
A win will also sent SMB to a record-setting 31st league championship.
San Miguel took a 3-2 series lead following its 96-82 rout of TNT in Game 5 in Antipolo.
Rodney Brondial and Kris Rosales came through with big efforts in that win, as the duo provided the big spark off the bench.
Brondial, the undersized forward, played big for his 6-4 height, finishing with a team-high 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Rosales scored 12, going 2-of-4 from three-point range, while adding four assists.
The Beermen though will need star center and reigning league Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo healthy.
You see, the 6-foot-10 Fajardo hurt his knee during midway of the third quarter in Game 5 following an accidental collision with TNT’s Poy Erram that had hin tripping on Brondial.
The Kraken stayed on the bench for the rest of that third period, and played for just three minutes in the last period.
But knowing Fajardo, the 36-year-old SMB star will surely play through the pain, knowing the team now has a golden chance at finishing off TNT.
Other than Fajardo, CJ Perez, Marcio Lassiter, Jericho Cruz and Don Trollano will be there to provide the firepower.
TNT will surely come out swinging, in its bid to force a sudden death Game 7.
Jordan Heading will try to bounce back from a quiet 13 markers in that Game 5 loss.
The left-handed Fil-Aussie guard knows that Calvin Oftana can’t simply carry the scoring chores alone.
Other TNT expected to lay everything on the line are Poy Erram, Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and Kelly Williams.
San Miguel wjth be looking for its 31st league title.
