Veteran big man Beau Belga signed a one-year contract extension with Rain or Shine, assuring him of playing for his 15th season with the franchise.
The team announced the signing on Monday via its official social media account.
Selected seventh overall by Purefoods in the 2008 PBA Rookie Draft, Belga found himself playing to two other teams — Burger King/Air21 and Meralco — before finding himself a permanent home at Rain or Shine in 2011.
At 39, Belga remains a serviceable big man for the team under coach Yeng Guiao. He also provides leadership for a team that has been on a rebuilding mode. He averaged 2.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 12 games in the ongoing Philippine Cup where Rain or Shine has already been eliminated bowing to Meralco in the quarterfinals.
Belga’s contract extension comes at the heels of Gabe Norwood’s recent retirement.
