
Malaysians mourned the loss of an iconic figure in the aviation scene after he died following a lengthy battle with cancer.
According to NST, Malaysia Airlines cabin crew member Hafeez Al-Bukhary Zulkefly breathed his last yesterday (July 2) and his passing was confirmed by his cousin Hani Mishan on social media.
“With profound sadness, I wish to inform you that Hafiz Bukhari Zulkefly has returned to the mercy of Allah.

“Al-Fatihah. May Allah forgive all his sins, grant him ease in his grave and bless him with Jannah Firdaus. Amin,” she wrote.
Earlier, Hani revealed that Hafeez was in critical condition and was taken back to his hometown in Perak. She also called upon the public to pray for his recovery.

Hafeez, who was 42, won the hearts of many on social media with videos documenting his interactions with haj and umrah pilgrims who were onboard Malaysia Airlines flights.
His cheery, warm personality and compassionate service to pilgrims earned him much praise from netizens, as well as a massive online following.
On Aug 27, 2025, he revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.
Hafeez later shared on June 22 of this year that he was receiving treatment at the hospital and was in a stable condition, albeit feeling weak at the time.
