Malaysian fashion icon Dato’ Sri Bernard Chandran has unveiled his Spring/Summer 2026 menswear collection, titled BC Beach Culture, in a bold runway showcase that redefines beachwear through the lens of luxury, sustainability, and craftsmanship.

Far from chasing trends or virtue signalling, Chandran’s latest collection is rooted in his long-standing creative process—one centred on technical mastery and an intuitive aversion to waste. Each garment in the collection was crafted entirely from luxury remnant fabrics, with the designer drawing on years of personal experimentation, creating pieces for himself and his family. The result is a collection that transforms limited yardage into striking, high-impact menswear.

Chandran’s meticulous approach to design is evident in the interplay of materials and finishes. Lace trimmings embellish fluid silk chiffon; sports linings contrast against opulent fabrics; and Swarovski crystals and sequins elevate silhouettes typically associated with casual beachwear. The collection draws on familiar references—tank tops, Cuban-collared shirts, swim shorts, and traditional kaftans—reimagined as statement pieces in a new genre of hyper-luxurious loungewear.

“I wanted to approach this not as a theme, but as a practice,” said Chandran. “It’s about solving creative problems with what you already have, and making something desirable and new.”

With BC Beach Culture, Chandran not only showcases his talent for innovation and refinement, but also presents a compelling case for sustainable luxury. The collection speaks to a contemporary masculine identity—fluid, bold, and deeply considered.
