MARANG – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is considered to have automatically exited Perikatan Nasional (PN) following the party's move to form a coalition with other parties.
Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said that under the constitution any party that decides to join or form another alliance automatically loses its membership without requiring any official letter or specific decision.
"They has already made a statement that he wants to form another coalition... they're automatically out. But officially there's nothing to it, no need for anything official.
"They're considered out once they did that (forming alliance). According to the constitution, once we go elsewhere, that's it," he said when met by reporters after delivering a duha lecture at Masjid Rusila here on Friday.
Previously, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that Bersatu would form a stronger new coalition together with several other parties following the Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) on Aug 1.
The Bersatu president said the new coalition would, among others, involve parties within the Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat (IPR), including Putra and Parti Bersepakat Hak Rakyat Malaysia (URIMAI).
Meanwhile, Hadi stressed that Pas has consistently worked towards Malay-Islamic unity as well as relations with other races to safeguard the Malay community.
However, he criticised the government's approach, which he claimed appeared to punish and humiliate the Malay community through corruption issues.
He alleged that enforcement action seemed to focus solely on listing Malays involved in corruption whether in small or large cases.
He said that based on his observations non-Malays who acted as bribe givers or were involved in illegal activities were not dealt with accordingly.
"Those who give bribes should be punished — that is the non-Malays. This situation humiliates the Malay community... searching extensively for Malay faces involved in corruption," he stressed.
Asked about ties and negotiations with Umno for the Melaka State Election (PRN), Hadi said discussions were still ongoing.
He said the political situation in Melaka was not the same as in Negeri Sembilan or Johor as although the Dewan Undangan Negeri results showed an 18-seat win the parliamentary seat mapping in the area presented a different dynamic.
Meanwhile, Hadi expressed satisfaction with the appointment structure of the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council (EXCO) for the state administration.
He Pas received its rightful quota in the state administration.
"Yes we are satisfied with the appointment," he said briefly.
