Indera Mahkota Member of Parliament Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah has alleged that he was denied a fair and transparent process before being expelled from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), raising concerns over how the party manages internal disciplinary proceedings.

Saifuddin confirmed that he received formal notification of his expulsion on 6 January 2026, with the decision citing an alleged breach of Clause 9.1.4 of the Bersatu Constitution. However, he maintained that no detailed explanation or prior clarification was provided to him before the decision was finalised.

According to Saifuddin, the disciplinary action stemmed from a summons he attended on 6 November 2025, during which he submitted three specific requests to the party’s Disciplinary Board. He claimed that none of these requests were addressed or acknowledged, despite their relevance to ensuring fairness in the proceedings.

One of his key demands was for two members of the Disciplinary Board to withdraw from deliberating on his case, on the grounds that they allegedly had personal and family links to senior party leaders. Saifuddin argued that such connections could compromise impartiality and undermine confidence in the outcome.

He also sought clarity on the identities of those responsible for investigating and prosecuting the case against him. Saifuddin stressed that the separation of roles between investigators, prosecutors and decision-makers was essential to uphold the principles of natural justice. Without such clarity, he said, it was impossible to ensure that the process was conducted independently and fairly.

In addition, Saifuddin requested the presence of Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during the disciplinary proceedings. He stated that this request was made in good faith to ensure accountability at the highest level, but it did not receive any response from the board.

Saifuddin later received correspondence from Disciplinary Board chairman Datuk Mohammed Radzi Manan, which he interpreted as confirmation that the investigation did not meet the standards of fairness or due process. As a result, he formally asked for a fresh hearing that would satisfy all three of his original demands, indicating his willingness to attend and cooperate fully if those conditions were met.

Despite this, Saifuddin said he heard nothing further from the Disciplinary Board until the expulsion notice was issued in January 2026. He maintained that the absence of engagement or explanation violated fundamental principles of natural justice.

He has since confirmed his intention to appeal the expulsion, signalling that the matter is far from resolved. The dispute has also drawn attention to broader questions surrounding internal governance, transparency and disciplinary accountability within Bersatu, at a time when party unity and credibility remain under close public scrutiny.
