KUALA LUMPUR — The Indera Mahkota Bersatu division has expressed regret over the dismissal of Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah by the party’s Disciplinary Board, saying the decision was made without a fair hearing.

Its deputy chief, Mat Zahid Abu Hassan, said the division hopes the Bersatu Appeals Board will give proper consideration to the appeal to be filed by the Indera Mahkota MP, and that the process will be conducted fairly, transparently and prudently to safeguard the party’s integrity.

He said the decision to back Saifuddin was unanimously agreed at a divisional committee meeting held yesterday.

“The committee expresses solidarity with Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and reaffirms its continued support for his leadership,” Mat Zahid said in a statement, as reported by Bernama.

Saifuddin has described his dismissal from the party as unfair and biased, claiming it was decided without a proper and impartial disciplinary process.

The sacking followed, among other reasons, his call for Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to step down.

He also alleged that a disciplinary meeting held on November 6, 2025, failed to address conflicts of interest and denied him a proper hearing.

Saifuddin has since confirmed that he will submit an appeal against the decision in the near future. January 10, 2026
