TASEK Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan has accused Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (Bersatu) Disciplinary Board of being manipulated as a tool to attack the party’s Deputy President, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
In an audio recording of a meeting with the Disciplinary Board on 8 October, which he has circulated, Wan Saiful alleged that discussions intended to address complaints against him were instead used to question Hamzah’s position within the party.
“The recording is clear proof that the Disciplinary Board is no longer independent. Complaints against me were not properly addressed, while the focus was on building a negative perception of the Deputy President,” he said in a statement on Monday.
Wan Saiful also claimed that the Board’s chairman, Datuk Radzi Manan, failed to maintain objectivity, openly referencing Hamzah and accusing Larut MP Hamzah of aspiring to become Prime Minister.
The recording reportedly captures Radzi stating, “I called Hamzah, kan? He is the Timbalan Presiden and I called him,” while asserting that Hamzah had reached an understanding with PAS.
“This is evidence of a specific agenda within the Disciplinary Board. I repeatedly requested that Hamzah’s name not be mentioned, as the session was supposed to be about me, but the response was always the same: ‘memang saya nak kaitkan’,” Wan Saiful said.
He further criticised the investigation process as unprofessional, with panel members admitting that procedures did not follow legal standards and that information could be obtained from coffee shops or mobile phones.
Wan Saiful added that the decision to dismiss him was issued two days before the deadline for him to submit a response.
“I was given until 15 October, yet the dismissal letter arrived on 13 October. This proves the decision was made in advance, likely under instructions from certain individuals,” he said.
He also questioned the presence of two panel members with potential conflicts of interest, noting that his request for their recusal was denied due to insufficient quorum.
“From the entire recording, it is clear that the Disciplinary Board has lost credibility and is serving the political interests of certain factions within the party,” he said.
Wan Saiful has called for the immediate dissolution of Bersatu’s Disciplinary Board and the annulment of all its decisions.
On 14 October, Wan Saiful and four other party leaders – Mohd Azrudin Md Idris, Mohd Faizal Asmar, Mohd Fadhli Ismail, and Mohd Isa Mohd Saidi – were expelled from Bersatu. Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal was suspended for one term. - November 3, 2025
