THE internal rift within Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deepened after several of its Perak division chiefs who had openly called for party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to resign were issued notices to appear before the party’s disciplinary board on 14 January.

Bersatu Teluk Intan division chief Kamaruddin Majid confirmed that he was among those who received the notice, which was sent via WhatsApp at about 3pm on Saturday.

He said other division heads from Padang Rengas, Gopeng, Tapah, Larut and Pasir Salak, as well as the Srikandi chief for Tambun, had also received similar notices.

According to Kamaruddin, the letter, signed by Bersatu Disciplinary Board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan, instructed him to be present at the party’s headquarters at 2pm on the stated date following allegations that a disciplinary complaint had been lodged against him.

“It alleges that there is a written disciplinary complaint against me following a press conference at a hotel in Ipoh on Dec 10, 2025, where 14 divisions called on Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to step down as president.

“The complainant claims that the statements made during the press conference were a lie and had tarnished Bersatu’s image,” he said when contacted.

At the press conference, 14 Bersatu Perak division leaders urged Muhyiddin to resign to make way for party renewal, citing ongoing internal turmoil and the party’s defeat in the recent 17th Sabah state election. - January 10, 2026
