SIXTEEN Members of Parliament (MPs) from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) have signed a letter addressed to party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, expressing grave concern over what they described as escalating internal strife within the party.
The letter, dated 23 October, called the recent expulsion of Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and the one-term suspension of Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal “unwise” and “poorly timed”.
The MPs argued that the disciplinary actions could undermine public support for Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) alternative budget proposal, presented by Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
They further criticised the party’s decision to summon Hamzah—who also serves as BERSATU’s deputy president—before the disciplinary board, describing the move as “illogical”.
Mahkota MP Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, one of the signatories, confirmed that he personally handed the document to Muhyiddin in Parliament on 27 October.
Speaking to Berita HarianH*, the former PN Pahang chairman said Muhyiddin had read the letter and provided his response.
“Tan Sri Muhyiddin informed us that the decisions made by the Bersatu Disciplinary Board were in accordance with the party’s constitution, and that he had never interfered in its proceedings,” Saifuddin explained.
“I told him that the letter was simply a collective expression of concern from BERSATU MPs, not an appeal on behalf of the three affected MPs—Hamzah, Wan Saiful, and Wan Ahmad Fayhsal,” he added.
“I also informed the MPs involved about Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s position and advised them not to take any further action. Sixteen MPs have shown solidarity with the three facing disciplinary measures, bringing the total number of those aligned to 19. We did not include the two vice presidents, so the number could be more than 19 out of the party’s 25 MPs,” he said.
According to a copy of the document, other signatories include Ketereh MP Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor and Mersing MP Muhammad Islahuddin Abas, along with Fathul Huzir Ayob (Gerik), Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail (Kubang Pasu), Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah), Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah (Rompin), and Nordin Ahmad Ismail (Lumut).
Also signing the letter were Zakri Hassan (Kangar), Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu), Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (Sungai Besar), Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (Masjid Tanah), Roslan Hashim (Kulim Bandar Baharu), Azahari Hasan (Padang Rengas), Kalam Salan (Sabak Bernam), and Mohd Nazri Abu Hassan (Merbok). - November 2, 2025
