KUALA LUMPUR – Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan has voiced his dismay over the current state of Bersatu, saying the party has become consumed by Facebook-related issues instead of addressing pressing matters concerning the people.
He pointed out that, during his tenure as the party's Information Chief, similar issues had never been a point of focus. He lamented the current leadership's inability to manage even a Facebook account, suggesting it may be time for the party to consider shutting down.
“I am saddened by what’s happening in Bersatu. The issues affecting the people are being ignored. The Azam Baki issue isn’t being addressed. The Anwar Ibrahim issue is untouched. The issue of selling the nation is not championed. But a Facebook account has become the focus,” he said in a statement today.
Wan Saiful was expelled from Bersatu in October 2025 on allegations of breaching the party's constitution and ethical code.
Meanwhile, Bersatu's Information Chief, Harris Idaham Rashid, claimed that four individuals were suspected of sabotaging the official Bersatu Facebook account.
The individuals are believed to have close ties with former Deputy President Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and Machang MP, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
“These individuals had access to Content, Messages and Calls, Community Activity, Ads, Insights, Permissions, and page deletion, according to Facebook’s Page Management History,” Harris Idaham said.
Sabotage posts began on February 14, 2026, at 8.54am and continued until 11.44pm on the same day, with 21 posts made during this 15-hour period.
The crisis within Bersatu escalated further when its Deputy President, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, and 16 other members, including three MPs, two state assemblymen, and several division leaders, were expelled from the party.
On Saturday, Hamzah announced that he would not appeal his expulsion, confirming his shift to an independent MP. He now receives support from 19 of the 25 Bersatu MPs in Perikatan Nasional (PN). - February 15, 2026
