THE sacking of Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) was something that was expected, according to former Bersatu Information Chief, Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan.
Wan Saiful, who is also the Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament, said that the action also reflected the party's President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in a state of desperation.
According to him, the action of personally sending the notice seemed to show that Muhyiddin was also acting as the Chairman of the Disciplinary Board.
“The sacking of YB Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was indeed expected because Muhyiddin is currently really desperate.
"What's more, when Muhyiddin himself sent the notice (in the WhatsApp group), it's as if he is also the Chairman of the Disciplinary Board. Muhyiddin has behaved out of character.
"At the party, support for Muhyiddin is minimal. Only those he appointed support him. And that's because they love the position they were appointed to.
“My previous comments that the Disciplinary Board was being mobilised to hunt down Hamzah were correct.
“The grassroots remain with Hamzah and the larger group is with Hamzah,” he said in a statement on his Facebook page.
Hamzah was reportedly sacked from Bersatu membership with immediate effect via a Notice of Dismissal of Membership dated 13 February 2026 with reference BERSATU/LD/RPT/108/25.
According to the notice, the Bersatu Disciplinary Board announced that the decision was made after a meeting on 12 February 2026.
According to the notice, the dismissal decision was made under Clause 22.5 of the Constitution of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) following Hamzah’s actions, which allegedly violated Clause 9.1.4 of the party’s constitution.
Hamzah, who is also a member of the Larut Division, was informed that the notice was effective immediately.
However, he still has the right to submit an appeal to the Appeals Board for consideration within 14 days from the date of the notice.
The notice was signed by the Chairman of the Bersatu Disciplinary Board, Datuk Mohd Radzi Mohd Manan and addressed to Hamzah in Bukit Damansara. – February 13, 2026
