Bersatu Secretary General, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said, the party's supreme council is of the opinion that Muhyiddin's leadership is still needed by the party and the country.
"This meeting was chaired by Bersatu Deputy Chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu last Friday evening," he said in a statement.
Muhyiddin made the announcement while delivering a keynote address in conjunction with the 6th Bersatu 2023 Annual General Meeting (PAT) at the Ideal Convention Center (IDCC) here. According to him, the decision was made to give a chance to the backbencher to lead the party.
Muhyiddin said the decision was to provide space and opportunity for other emerging leaders to lead the party.
