SHAH ALAM – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is looking at forming a new coalition with moderate and progressive political parties as it seeks to strengthen its position and help revitalise democracy in the country.
Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the party would first carry out a detailed review of its performance in the 2026 Negeri Sembilan state election before deciding on its next steps.
He said the review would help the party identify ways to strengthen Bersatu and continue pushing for an agenda that benefits the people.
“This is the first time Bersatu has contested an election using its own symbol without relying on or riding on another party.
“The results in Negeri Sembilan require Bersatu to take bold steps, strengthen internal discipline, work harder and push for changes that can bring greater benefits to the people,” he said in a statement today.
Mohamed Azmin said Bersatu accepted the voters’ decision in Negeri Sembilan, where the party contested 24 seats under its own banner.
He also congratulated Barisan Nasional (BN) for receiving a fresh mandate to form the Negeri Sembilan state government following the 16th state election.
Based on unofficial results, Bersatu failed to win any of the 24 seats contested including their previous seats Gemas and Labu.
