MELAKA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will use its official party logo in the 16th Melaka State Election on Nov 14, said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Mohamed Azmin, who is also the party’s election director, said he had sent an official letter to the Election Commission (EC) last week to confirm the use of the party’s logo in the state election.
“We will use the Bersatu logo. I have sent a letter to the Election Commission, and the use of the Bersatu logo has been approved by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin,” he told reporters.
He was speaking after officiating at the Bersatu Candidate Announcement Ceremony for the Melaka State Election at the party’s main operations room in Baitul Tariq, Klebang, last night.
Also present was Bersatu vice-president Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin.
Commenting on the eight seats Bersatu will contest in the Melaka State Election, Mohamed Azmin said all had the potential to be won by the party.
He said Bersatu was expected to face Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates in four constituencies — Kelebang (PKR), as well as Gadek, Ayer Keroh and Pangkalan Batu (DAP) — but would leave it to the people of Melaka to make their choice.
“In the context of elections, overlapping contests mean that the parties involved will compete, but we take the view that this is healthy competition in a democratic system.
“We will not practise ‘gutter politics’ or resort to slander. We will present our party policies. We are a party that cares for the people, focusing on issues such as the economy, growth and job creation,” he said.
Earlier, at the event, Mohd Radzi announced that Bersatu would contest eight state assembly seats: Lendu, Gadek, Sungai Udang, Pantai Kundor, Kelebang, Pengkalan Batu, Ayer Keroh and Bemban.
