Pastry chefs around the island have been dreaming up decadent creations to celebrate mum. Goodwood Park Hotel, for one, has introduced an adorable bear-shaped dessert filled with luscious durian mousse. Meanwhile, Cedele has introduced a decadent cake that pairs earthy matcha with a red bean paste infused with strawberry.
For mums who prefer a lighter treat, The Fullerton Cake Boutique’s Apple Yuzu Vanilla Cake is fruity and refreshing. All Things Delicious’ Mango Lassi Tres Leches Cake is a tropical treat crowned with sweet mangoes. This Mother’s Day, taro is also in the spotlight, with bakeries like Fieldnotes introducing an indulgent Taro Cake that’s complete with chewy mochi bits.

Inspired by the hotel’s mascot, Spikey bear, the newest creation is presented as the mother of the beloved character. Adorably shaped to resemble a bear, the sweet treat is filled with luscious Mao Shan Wang durian mousse, pandan pound cake, pandan cream, and chocolate cream.

The Fullerton Cake BoutiqueThis Mother’s Day, executive pastry chef Siddarth Prabhu and his team has dreamed up the Apple Yuzu Vanilla Cake (S$88). Cut into the light and refreshing cake and find it stacked with airy vanilla chiffon, whipped vanilla ganache, caramelised apples, and yuzu creme. Apple and yuzu jelly, and a handcrafted heart motif completes the sweet creation.

Paul SingaporeFor Mother’s Day, this French bakery-café is serving up a curated collection of sweet treats. The Cherry Blossom Cake (S$79) is a new creation and celebrates spring in full bloom with earthy matcha sponge layered with sakura white chocolate cream, berries, and cherry jelly.
The Craquant Cake (S$79) and the Fraisier Cake (S$79) makes a return this season — the former is a chocolate-y creation with dark chocolate praline and velvety mousse, while the latter is a classic strawberry cake with rich Mousseline cream and marzipan.

All Things DeliciousThis halal-certified bakery-cafe has dreamed up an extensive selection of sweet treats for Mother’s Day, perfect for surprising mum with. The Matcha Strawberry Tart (from S$72), for one, fills a buttery tart shell with orange almond cream, matcha sponge, strawberry jam, and mascarpone Chantilly. It’s decorated with matcha Chantilly and fresh strawberries.
If mum is a fan of mangoes, go for the Mango Lassi Tres Leches Cake (from S$64) thats fruity and refreshing. It’s soaked with three different types of milk and topped with fresh mangoes and yoghurt.

FieldnotesCelebrate mum with Fieldnotes’ Taro Cake (from S$42), a Mother’s Day exclusive that features soft layers of sponge, and fragrant taro Chantilly dotted with chewy mochi bits. Bob the Baker BoyBob the Baker Boy’s Love in Bloom Chocolate Cake (S$99.95) might just be too pretty to cut into. The Mother’s Day exclusive creation uses the bakery’s Signature Belgian Chocolate Cake as its base. The cake is rich, balanced, and not too sweet, layering chocolate sponge, 55 per cent Belgian chocolate custard, and 55 per cent Belgian chocolate Chantilly. It’s decorated like a blooming basket, including handcrafted chocolate florals.

The former is light and refreshing, with mango mousse and pink guava mousse layered between vanilla sponge. The sweet creation is light and earthy, with layers of fluffy matcha sponge, matcha cream, and housemade Azuki red bean paste infused with strawberry. The cake is decorated with dried rose petals and toasted matcha crumbs.

The latest Yammy Blossom (S$39.80 for a whole cake) has layers of soft yam chiffon, creamy yam filling, light yam mousse, and cake pudding. This year, the ice cream brand introduces two new sweet creations: Halo Mommy (S$59) and Carnation Sticky Chewy Chocolate Ice Cream Cake (S$55). The former features a dual layer of Strawberry and Chocoholic ice cream encased in a pink matte chocolate shell and adorned with rose gold butterflies.
