KUALA LUMPUR – PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said it is better for his party and Bersatu to contest separate in elections, citing growing differences between the two parties.
“Personally, I suggest that the best path for us is to move separately. We can remain friends, just not for elections,” he said on Facebook today.
Ahmad Fadhli, who is also Pasir Man MP, criticised Bersatu’s claims of its grassroots support and election machinery, saying that the party was in reality, weak.
He said Bersatu was not a new party by now, but had yet to acknowledge and address its weaknesses.
“Whey they accuse those who say Bersatu has no machinery of being deaf, then it means there is no longer any hope for harmonious cooperation.
“You can look for political friends who have clearer hearing, sharper vision and a stronger sense of smell,” he added.
Ahmad Fadhli also said Bersatu, which is PAS’ partner in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, preferred to put up individual leaders’ personal supporters as election candidates, rather than strengthen the party as a whole.
He also accused Bersatu of contesting more seats than its PN partners, but failing to delivery victories.
Ties between Bersatu and PAS are under strain, with PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang recently saying it was time for a review PAS’ cooperation Bersatu. - May 31, 2026
