(UPDATE) FILIPINO cue artist Carlo Biado took down Robbie Capito in the final, 11-7, to rule the Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS) Asian Pool Men’s 10-Ball Championship at the Puslatnas POBSI iNews Tower in Jakarta, Indonesia, Saturday.
A flubbed shot by the Hong Kong-born Filipino Capito in the 4-ball paved the way for Biado, as the reigning world champ cleaned the 18th rack to finish the match.
This 10-ball tournament is Biado's first title this year.
"I'm so happy that I captured this ACBS event so it adds to my achievements," said the 42-year-old Biado, who staved off a tough fight from the 24-year-old Capito.
"I'd like to thank my friends, Rubilen Amit and her wife, and to all the Filipinos here. And to Robbie Capito, he gave me a good battle; he's like my oldest son. I'm happy that I played him in the finals."
Biado got past Singaporean Aloysius Yapp, 9-7, while Capito dropped another Filipino player Alexis Ferrer in the bracket, 9-7.
Biado credited his wealthy international experience in coming out triumphant in tight matches.
