CUE artist Carlo Biado is the last Filipino standing in the Men’s World 8-Ball Championship at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Rockford, Illinois, United States, as he advanced to the tournament’s final 16.

In the round of 32, Biado defeated Mexico’s Gerson Boza, 10-5, to book his ticket to the next round of the competition.

Before that, in the losers’ qualification round, Biado bested Vitaly Pastura of Ukraine, 8-0.

Biado will next face the Netherlands’ Marco Teutscher in the round of 16, which begins at midnight on Wednesday (Philippine time).

The Billiards Hall of Famer said the 8-Ball championships is the only title missing from his trophy collection.

“I’m the only Filipino left, as our other fellow Filipinos are already eliminated. Let’s pray that we get this World 8-Pool title,” Biado said in Filipino in a video message.

Biado also said that he will return home to relax, following the tournament.

Other Filipinos, Lee Van Corteza, Jeffrey De Luna and Sean Mark Malayan, all exited during the losers’ qualification round, making Biado the lone Filipino to go further in the championships.
