KENINGAU: The Biah Attackers U12 Rugby Team (SK Kampong Biah Keningau) clinched the championship title at the national-level Battle of the Brave Rugby Tournament held recently at the SK Malawa field in Kota Kinabalu, demonstrating their dominance in the primary school rugby arena.
Headmaster Usrah Abdul Wahid said this outstanding success is the result of continuous commitment and dedication from various parties, particularly the Keningau District Education Office (PPD) through its Sports Unit and Student Management Sector (SPM), which actively develop rugby at the grass roots level.
Team Manager and Head Coach Rozy Yanty C Madis said the win reflects the unwavering support from Usrah, as well as the players’ intense training, high discipline and fighting spirit instilled from the very beginning.
“It is hoped that this success will open up more opportunities for primary school pupils to participate in rugby, while uncovering more young talent with the potential to be highlighted at higher levels.”The objectives of the programme include boosting pupil participation in rugby, fostering sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork, identifying new grass roots talent, increasing school engagement across districts and serving as an educational platform for core sporting values.
It is envisaged that this triumph will expand opportunities for primary school pupils in rugby, uncovering young talent capable of reaching State and national levels.
“The presence of teams from various districts and States demonstrates high sportsmanship among primary school pupils across Malaysia.”The Biah Attackers U12 setup, comprising contingent manager Usrah, deputy managers Masniah Othman and Zarina Zainon, welfare managers Jalius Yabai and Yvette Jane Paul, document manager and head coach Rozy and coaches Jerome Yabai and Vinvebrilliant Alzy Albert, were also commended for their hard work in guiding the pupils to victory.
The championship team featured Jarino Kelvin Jalius (Captain), Amirul Hadi Christopher, Danil Arthur Lawrence Jornoh, Reconell Celestine, Ervandy Edward, Rexlee Rommy, Axelsen Dannson Danny, Edward Bryan Rufinus, Darren Denzel Herry, Afiz Abdullah, Arn Heavenz and Aiman Mohd Manidin.
