Bill Madden backed Jeff Pearlman’s harsh criticism of New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart after his Donald Trump appearance became an NFL controversy.
The issue was not simply that Dart attended a political event. The backlash grew because he introduced Trump publicly while entering a season in which he is expected to lead a Giants locker room.
That is why Pearlman’s response went beyond normal sports debate and became a direct challenge to the quarterback’s judgment.

Bill Madden backs Jeff Pearlman as Jaxson Dart’s Donald Trump backlash grows
In a recent Bill Madden X post, Madden shared support for Pearlman’s criticism of Dart’s decision to stand with Trump.
“I’ve received a lot of replies on my Jaxson Dart video. I just wanna say, like, ‘What is the argument here?’ Donald Trump depicts the Obamas as apes in the video,”Pearlman said in the viral video.
Pearlman added, “… He has Queens housing units that he limits the number of black families that can rent. … He accused of s_____ a______, bare minimum, by two dozen women.
“… What is the argument anymore? If you’re Jaxson Dart, why are you standing up for this guy? … He’s a racist, s_____ piece of s___.”
Pearlman was not questioning Dart’s arm talent or his future as a starter. He was questioning the decision to align himself so publicly with one of the most divisive figures in American politics.
That criticism came after Dart’s surprise appearance at a Trump event in Suffern, New York, where he introduced the president and helped create a story that quickly moved beyond football.
Bill Madden says Jaxson Dart has no excuse for the Donald Trump meeting
Madden then made his own position unmistakable while agreeing with Pearlman.
“Jeff Pearlman is right. Jaxson Dart has ZERO excuse. What is the argument? Trump has proven over and over that he is a s______ and a loathsome piece of s___,” Madden stated.
The force of Madden’s response shows why this did not fade as a routine offseason appearance. Dart is not a fringe roster player; he is the Giants’ young quarterback, and anything he does publicly becomes tied to the franchise.
Reports around the appearance said the Giants viewed it as a misstep, especially because the team’s identity and “Go Big Blue” energy were pulled into a partisan setting.
That is the football problem under the political argument. Dart invited a distraction before he has built enough NFL capital to absorb it easily.
Pearlman and Madden focused on the politics, but the Giants now have a simpler issue to manage: their quarterback made himself the story for reasons that had nothing to do with winning games.
