KUCHING (May 29): Bintulu Port Authority (LPB) and Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (Sains) have contributed a total of RM3 million in business ‘zakat’ (tithe) to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS).

The cheques’ presentation was witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), LPB’s business zakat contribution amounted to RM2 million, and the cheque was presented by its chairman Datuk Sharkawi Alis to Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) president Datuk Misnu Taha.

Meanwhile, Sains contributed RM1 million in business zakat, with the cheque presented by its deputy chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain to Misnu.

Sains chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan was also present.
