Birmingham City chief Garry Cook has penned an open letter to fans after the sacking of manager John Eustace.
Wayne Rooney is being linked with the job at St Andrews.
The Blues won 3-1 at home against West Brom on Friday and are currently sixth in the Championship. Therefore, Eustace's dismissal created frustration among the club's fans.
Cook said, "John had clear ambitions and goals for the season. Unfortunately, it was clear after a series of conversations that there were disagreements with the club's management. When that happens, it's best to part ways.
"With this decision, the future coach will have plenty of time to evaluate the squad ahead of the transfer windows in January and this summer."
